It is your responsibility to read and understand the terms of doing business with Your Local Sewist (YLS).
YLS has the right to refuse work and give no reason.
All estimates must be accepted while in the studio. If a customer does not wish to do this, they must take their items with them when leaving and either return with the items once estimate has been agreed. Three reminders will be sent in regard to the estimate, after 7 days, the estimate will expire and cancel off. Any booking fee paid will be forfeited.
A booking fee must be paid when confirming a consultation. This fee will be deducted from the total cost of the work. Should you decide not to go ahead with the suggested work, YLS will retain the booking fee to cover time and advice given.
Cancellation: More than 24 hours notice is required to obtain a refund of the booking fee. The booking fee will not be refunded for cancellations given in less than 24 hours notice or a now show. You may reschedule the booking and not lose the booking fee.
Booking are made online and a confirmation will be sent. A reminder will also be sent one day prior to the booking.
All appointments are held at 111 Central Avenue Indooroopilly QLD 4068, unless otherwise specified.
YLS will, to the best of her ability, carry out any work to the highest standard and to the agreed specifications.
The customer must try on the garment when collecting. If further alterations are required outside the scope of what was agreed, the customer agrees to pay for the new work. If the customer does not try on the garment at the YLS studio, YLS will void any guarantee to the work completed. However, the customer may rebook for new work.
If YLS has made an error to the work, YLS will absorb the cost of correcting the work.
If YLS damages a garment, YLS will in the first instance attempt to replace the item. If this is not possible, YLS will compensate the customer.
All bespoke work has to be agreed via a contract. A 50% deposit must be paid up front.
Any work required in under a week, will incur a rush fee of 30% of total work cost.
YLS will guarantee all work up to 30 days from the collection date. This guarantee only covers stitching failure. In this case, the customer must text YLS to advise of damage and to arrange a booking to return the item for repair.
After work has been completed, an invoice will be sent to the customer. The customer has 7 days in which to settle the invoice and book in to collect their sewing. Unless otherwise agreed.
Failure to pay within 7 days will incur a daily 1% late payment fee for each day over 7 days up to 21 days. YLS will dispose of item to recoup costs.
Once paid, all work will be held for a maximum of 21 days unless otherwise agreed. Thereafter, YLS will dispose of the item.
Health and safety
YLS is insured and carries a First Aid certificate as well as a First Aid kit. The studio is not recommended for children under 12 years of age, without supervision. YLS will not be held responsible for any accidents or injury to children under the supervision of their parents or guardians. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure their children are safe. YLS can provide First Aid and is protected by the Good Samaritan act.
Should anyone over 12 years of age, become injured while in the studio, YLS will render First Aid. No claim can be made against YLS for any injury sustained as a result of wreckless behaviour.

We collect your personal information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you. Your Local Sewist will only collect your name, phone number and if applicable your Facebook Messenger contact and email address. These will not be shared with any outside enterprise.
Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party. For Your Local Sewist, this will be confined to any credit/debit card payments made via Square.
Your Personal Information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including the following:
• Third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
• Where required or authorised by law.
Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.
When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.
